A selection committee chaired by Supreme Court president Direk Ingkhaninan yesterday selected Pisit Leelawachiropas as the next auditor-general.

The appointment of Pisit, who is the current deputy auditor-general, will need to be endorsed by the National Legislative Assembly (NLA).
The committee also selected members of the new State Audit Commission. They will also have to be endorsed by the NLA.
They are Piyaphan Nimmanahaeminda, Urai Romphoyok, Chaisit Trachutham, Jiraporn Meeleesawat, Gornpoj Assawinwichit, Suthiphon Thaveechaiyagarn, and Witthaya Arkompithak.
Suthiphon is a member of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). He will have to resign from the NBTC to join the State Audit Commission, which will necessitate the selection of a new member by the Secretariat of the Senate. The NBTC can continue to work as usual without one of its 11 members, according to the Frequency Allocation Law.
