Police yesterday arrested a People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) guard on a charge of assaulting a trainee pilot on the Din Daeng-Don Mueang Tollway.

Deputy Police Commissioner-General Somyos Pumphanmuang and senior police said police arrested Chaiwat Deengam, 20, a guard in Taling Chan district, Bangkok, under a warrant late Wednesday night on a charge of assaulting Surasuk Sowattanangkoon, a trainee pilot, on the Din Daeng-Don Mueang Tollway on May 9.
Surasak was driving on the elevated tollway above Vibhavadi Rangsit Road to Don Mueang International Airport to see the results of pilot examination. PDRC guards were blocking the tollway in front of the Thai PBS television station. In an effort to reach the airport, Surasak got out of his BMW car and removed traffic cones placed on the road by the PDRC. He was then surrounded and assaulted by PDRC guards.
Surasak’s mother filed a complaint with police, based on which action has been taken.
