One protester killed, three injured in shooting near Government House

An anti-government protester was shot dead and three others injured by unknown gunmen at the demonstration site near Government House early Saturday morning, emergency medical services agency reports.

They were atacked around 03.30am near the gate number 4 of Government House, according Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Erawan Emergency Medical Services Centre.

They were sent to three Bangkok hospitals nearby. Two were undergone treatment at Ramathibodi and two others were sent to Rajvithi and Klang hospital.

The injured protesters who were admitted to Ramathibodi hospital were shot at the neck, shoulder, and the upper knee. Both of them were now safe.

Another protester who was admitted to Klang hospital was shot at his body. The bullet has pierced from the right side to left side of his body. He later died. He was identified as Jamrieng Jitwat, 31, of Prachuab Khiri Khan province.

One of protest leader Suriyasai Katasila said the slain victim was a security guard of the Students and People Network for Thailand's Reform, which was holding a rally near the Government House.

Doctor Chuwit Praditbathuka, the director of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration General Hospital said the slain victim was a man in about 30 years old and he did not carry an identification card so his name could not be confirmed.

Uthai Yodmanee, one of leader of STR leader, Saturday told Nation Channel that a guard of STR was shot dead early Saturday morning. The STR will step up strict measures at their rally site at Chamai Maruchet Bridge, he said.
