The Supreme Court's Election Division yesterday ordered a new vote in Lop Buri's Constituency 4 to replace a Bhum Jai Thai MP disqualified over a violation of the election law during his campaign.

The court said Suban Jiraphanvanich, then chief of the Provincial Administrative Organisation, in 2011 violated the law by promising free gifts to voters in support of candidate Kiat Luangkachornwit, who was later elected to Parliament.
Using loudspeakers, Suban told people who were receiving give-away eyeglasses that if Kiat were elected, funds from Chai Badan district’s budget would be allocated to buy things for them.
Kiat was disqualified, although he was not present at the time the promise was made.
