NSC chief calls on civil servants to support Feb 2 ballot

National Security Council (NSC) chief Paradorn Pattanatabut has asked for the cooperation of civil servants, soldiers and police officers, to ensure smooth elections on February 2.

Meanwhile, Paradorn said he believed anti-government protests would continue for the time being, but with fewer protesters taking part. Whether protests continued into next year depended on the PDRC, he said.

In the past few days, only about 1,000 protesters were seen at the Rajdamnoen Road rally site. The lower numbers suggested that protesters were weighing up their options, he said. PDRC leader Suthep Thaugsuban would have to fight public opinion, if he still vowed to oppose a February 2 election, Paradorn added.
