Junta considers provisional charter draft

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) yesterday considered the draft of the provisional charter, said the ruling body's spokesman, Colonel Winthai Suvari.

The meeting at Army headquarters resulted in a slight adjustment to the document but details could not be revealed yet, he said.

Legal experts have been assigned to work on the draft, he said. Those who attended the meeting with NCPO chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha included his deputies, General Tanasak Patimapagorn, Admiral Narong Pipatanasai, Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong and Pol General Adul Saengsingkaew.

NCPO secretary general General Udomdej Sitabutr, General Paiboon Koomchaya, who is in charge of legal matters and reconciliation, and the NCPO chief legal adviser Wissanu Krea-ngam also attended.

Winthai said the final decision would be for Prayuth. However, the provisional charter would be submitted for royal endorsement this month and on schedule.

He said the NCPO did not discuss the charter on Wednesday as speculated by the media.
