Jatuporn Promphan, the chairman of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship, officially kicked off the red-shirt rally at the Utthayan Road at 5 pm Saturday.
He addressed the red-shirt people on the stage together with Nuttawut Saikuar and Thida Thawornset.
Jatuporn said the Utthayan Road was filled up with red-shirt people since 5 pm while many more were travelling to join the demonstration.
He said the rest of red shirts should arrive by 10 or 11 pm.
He said the red shirts would show their force to warn the elites against seizing power.
At 6 pm, Jautporn and other UDD leaders led the demonstrators to sing the national anthem and showed their citizen identification cards to prove that they are not workers or immigrants from neighbouring countries as alleged by their opponents.
