Jaruwan Mainthaka, former auditor general, has won the Bangkok senatorial seat in a landslide victory, according to unofficial results.
Jaruwan received 552,530 votes in the voting Sunday. She was followed by Pol Maj Gen Supisal Phakdeenaruenart, who got 267,947 votes.
The Election Commission reported that 1.685 million out of 4.2 million eligible voters in Bangkok exercised their voting right,a turnout of 40.05 per cent.
A total of 16,922 ballots or one per cent of all cast ballots were considered invalid and 175,296 ballots were marked with “abstention” option.
