The draft interim constitution is awaiting His Majesty's signature, assistant Army chief General Paiboon Koomchaya said yesterday.

Paiboon, who oversees the legal division of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), said he did not know how long the submission procedure would take, but he was certain the charter would go back to His Majesty for promulgation by the end of this month.
The interim charter spells out the authority of the NCPO and the interim administration as well as the composition of the National Legislative Assembly and Reform Council.
Paiboon declined to say whether NCPO chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha would become the interim prime minister once the charter is promulgated or if Prayuth would extend his term as Army chief after he reaches mandatory retirement age at the end of September.
