'Ill' Matichon owner skips NCPO summons

MATICHON newspaper owner Khanchai Boonpan sent his nephew, Matichon general manager Thakoon Boonpan, to inform the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) yesterday that he is in hospital.

The NCPO on Tuesday night had summoned Khanchai to report |himself.
Thakoon came to the Army Auditorium in Thewes district at 10am to submit a hospital certificate that Khanchai is in Bangkok Hospital.
Meanwhile Bhanapot Damapong, the step-brother of Khunying Potjaman na Pombejra, the former wife of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, reported to the NCPO yesterday. He reported himself at the Jamjuree Room at the Army Auditorium and was later released. 
In a separate move, Uthai Yodmanee, coordinator of The Students and People’s Network for Thailand’s Reform (STR) and three others reported themselves to the DSI yesterday to face eight charges, including sedition. Following interrogation, they were released on Bt100,000 bail each.
