GSB employees demand president's ouster

Employees of the state-run Government Savings Bank gathered this morning at the bank's headquarters to demand the resignation of its president Worawit Chailimpamontri in protest at the bank's alleged agreement to lend funds to the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) for the government's rice subsidy project.

A report last week indicated that GSB had extended a Bt5-billion loan to BAAC via the interbank lending market.

GSB employees also urged the bank to suspend its lending to the rice project.
