In another effort to unlock the election deadlock, the Election Commission on Monday again offered to serve as a mediator in talks between all the parties.

Somchai Srisutthiyakorn, an Election commissioner supervising elections, said holding several rounds of the election would not be able to get 95 per cent of the 500 MP seats as required by the Constitution before convening a House session unless the stakeholders hold talks.
“It would be a way out for a successful election. We are ready to be the mediator and won’t be worried if it fails again. The situation now has changed,” he said.
Before the February 2 election, the EC held talks with political parties to discuss whether to postpone the election date.
