The Election Commission will name two candidates to contest for a seat in the National Reform Council (NRC), EC member Somchai Srisutthiyakorn said yesterday.
He said the commission had yet to discuss whether it would select ‘insiders’ or ‘outsiders’ to become members of the reform council.
Somchai, who oversees the electoral process, said political parties should also be allowed to nominate representatives to contest for a seat in the NRC.
He called on the National Council for Peace and Order to lift the ban on political parties from holding meetings so they could select representatives.
The NRC would have 250 members, including representatives from all 77 provinces.
