The Democrat Party on Thursday condemned the killing of a redshirt poet and called for police to take quick action to bring killers to justice.
Spokesman Chavanond Intarakomalyasut said the party wished to express condolences to the family of Kamol Duangphasuk, alias Mainueng Kor Kunnathee, who was gunned down in a restaurant in Lat Phrao district on Thursday.
Kamol, who was a critic of the lese majeste law, was known for his support of the pro-government movement.
Chavanond said the party also felt sorry for the loss to the redshirt movement and that it didn’t want to see violence towards any group.
“We all are Thais. We do not want to see the incident exploited to expand the division in Thai society,” he said.
The party is asking the police to be fair in its investigation of the murder, particularly the government’s Centre of Administration for Peace and Order to be serious in handling the case and bringing the assailants to justice as soon as possible.
