A chief guard with the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship yesterday filed a libel suit against a suspect charged in connection with the launching of M79 grenades into an anti-government rally at Big C Ratchadamri.
Aree Krainara filed the complaint with Crime Suppression Division deputy commander Prasobchok Prommul, accusing Chatchawal Prabbamrung of defaming him by giving a statement to police that he was hired by Aree’s aide “Tom” to launch the grenades early this year.
Chatchawal is among seven suspects connected to the incident who were arrested last week.
Aree insisted that he did not know Tom, Chatchawal or any of the suspects. Aree also filed a complaint against newspapers Manager, Naew Na and Thai Post for publishing articles that he said defamed him and against Akorn Nakhornkulchet for posting messages about the incident on his Facebook page.
