The Daily News has condemned the M79 grenade attack on its headquarters Thursday night, saying threatening media was the same as threatening the people.

In a statement issued today, the paper described the action as outrageously violent. “The attack threatened the media organisation’s rights to perform its duty, which would lead to a blockage in providing fair and accurate news to the Thai people.

“During this conflict, we will perform our duty as a media outlet to the full  for the benefit the country and the people,” the Daily News affirmed.

It also called for those involved in the attack to stop violent action and respect individual rights, while also understanding the media's duty to provide factual information..

The Daily News also demanded a quick resolution to the current political crisis and actions from police and the Centre for Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) as well as People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC).
They asked the CAPO and Royal Thai Police to act quickly to find and punish the culprits.
“We do not want any media organisations or the courts to face a similar attack,” it said in the statement.
An M79 grenade was fired at the newspaper’s headquarters on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road on Thursday night. The investigation suggests that the grenade was fired with a launcher from a tollway opposite the paper’s headquarters.
This is the second time the paper has been attacked, The first attack was on January 30 when two M79 grenades landed at the paper’s old building.
