Court orders action over stolen guns
The Bangkok Military Court told an Army officer on Friday to file a police complaint against Captain Shinapon Orungroj and Sergeant Somkiet Mayong for 54 guns that were seized during the political unrest and were to have been submitted as evidence to the court.
The guns went missing from a storehouse. They were supposed to be presented at a trial on July 23-24 for attempted murder and murder. Army officers brought Shinaporn to Chana Songkram Police Station for interrogation while an arrest warrant for Somkiet, who is on the run, will be issued soon. There are fears that the stolen guns may fall into the hands of ill-intentioned people who may want to create a disturbance.
