Centre to prepare for Asean Community

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) announced yesterday that it was setting up a centre to prepare for the launch of the Asean Community next year.

Deputy NCPO chief General Tanasak Patimapragorn, who leads the centre, will first study the three pillars of the community - namely politics and security, its economy, and social and cultural aspects.

Separately, the NCPO also said it had appointed a committee to work on policies related to the development of special economic zones.
