Anti-govt protesters must not block MP candidacy registration: Interior

Caretaker Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan said Tuesday that the government would not allow protesters to break the law by blocking election procedures.

Charupong, who is the leader of the Pheu Thai Party, said he has been informed that protesters would be trucked from the south to Bangkok on December 22-23 to block party list MP candidacy registration, which he said would be in violation of the Royal Decree on a general election.

"His Majesty the King has approved the decree and we must respect his decision,'' he said.

Charupong said he was still proposing caretaker PM Yingluck Shinawatra as the party's number one party list candidate and there were no other contenders.
