Yingluck was just following Thaksin's lead to Singapore

It's a good thing the National Council for Peace and Order does not regard former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra's visit to Singapore as a violation of its conditions.

Singapore is one of two Asean member-countries - the other being Cambodia - that Thaksin visits often.

Thaksin and Singapore's elder statesman Lee Kuan Yew have developed a cordial and close friendship over the past 13 years, to the extent that Thaksin regards Lee as his political mentor.

The fact is that, if Thaksin held as much respect for Thailand's elder statesmen as he does for Lee, Thailand would not be in the turmoil it is in today.

Food for thought: Even Lee Kuan Yew would disagree with any display of national disloyalty by his own countrymen.
