World community does have important role

Re: "International community agog - and puzzled", Letters, May 22, 2014.

Julia Wang was right in saying that the situation in Thailand has the international community puzzled and worried.

As a matter of fact, we Thais are baffled too. I myself have posted several questions for the Army (see "Questions the Army must answer", Letters, May 21).

However, there are stories going around that it was the accumulation of war weapons by some Thais to use against their fellow countrymen, and the less-than-enthusiastic action of the police force to control this practice, that prompted the Army to declare martial law.

The world community should watch closely, and condemn those Thais who are wont to use violence against their brethren.
