Without trust, crisis is inevitable

We are fast running out of options in the current political impasse.

For conflict resolution to work there must be elements of compatibility between the two opposing parties. Crisis usually arises when the two camps are incompatible. Let's see where they stand.

View of the pro-reform faction: The system doesn't work anymore and produces corrupt politicians. The root cause is the undemocratic Constitution, which has to be rewritten. Reform first, election later.

View of the pro-status quo faction: Extra-parliamentary measures are unacceptable. Even if the Constitution has to be rewritten, it can still be done under the existing system and process. Election first, reform later.

However, the commitment to reform later after the general election requires a crucial element which has been missing all along: trust.

And without trust or effective means to build trust, we can forget about conflict resolution.

Crisis is inevitable.
