Who will stand up to the Finance Ministry?
Re: "Analysis: Curbs on capital inflows more likely", Business, February 19.
This is an excellent insight reading on the likely decision of Thailand's Monetary Policy Committee tomorrow. Please allow me to add another factor.
The likely resolution can also be guided by the personality of the seven members of the MPC. Out of seven, three are the Bank of Thailand's representatives, while four are outsiders. Therefore, three with assured voting need only one vote from the outsiders to carry a no-rate-cut resolution. The four crucial individuals are Ampon Kittiampon, Narongchai Akrasanee, Siri Ganjarerndee and Aswin Kongsiri. Who will be the courageous one to ignore sly warnings and vote with the BOT three? This is the time to differentiate between men and boys.
