US is a master of hypocrisy

The US is obviously convinced it is the master of democracy. Washington is so eager to "teach" other states how to run their affairs, even when the people concerned haven't asked for it. Now it is Thailand's turn, with the US urging both sides to respect the rule of law.

US State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf even said she applauded the restraint shown by Thai government authorities in this regard. How can she talk about respect for the law and in the next breath applaud a government that has violated laws, the Constitution and basic moral and democratic standards? The violations in its rice scheme, amnesty bill and attempts to change the Senate and foreign trade procedures are the root causes of current demonstrations. And with its huge wealth gap and poor healthcare for have-nots, has the US really got anything to teach Thailand (or most other countries) about democracy? I thought democracy was about making life good for everybody.
