Two militias battling on the streets

The police say they want to be better outfitted for battle with the protesters in explaining why they lost two of their own in previous battle with them.

However, the police in turn have allegedly shot dead at least six protesters with assault rifles and pistols. In addition, any shooting between the two sides usually seems to be initiated by the police. Even worse, it is unlikely that slain protesters were armed. In other words, the police, already tainted due to their obvious loyalty to fugitive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, appear to shoot indiscriminately.

Let's call the confrontations between the police and protesters what they truly are - pitched battles between two illegitimate militias.
