Through the eyes of a tourist

Having only been a guest in your country for two weeks, I don't profess to know everything about the reasons why your people took to the streets of Bangkok, so I'm just going to view the first day of the "shutdown" through the eyes of a tourist.

I spent six hours in the city centre and was impressed by the organisation and commitment of protesters and the way in which the rally was conducted without the slightest hint of threat to anybody.

If a rally of this scale and size were to take place in London, our politicians would certainly sit up, take note and do something about the issues.

That's how democracy works.
