Thaksin should pay the farmers

The caretaker government is in need of a short-term loan to pay the farmers. If the rice scheme contrived by Thaksin Shinawatra is as "profitable" as claimed, the man from Dubai who thinks for Pheu Thai should put his money where his mouth is and pledge the loan himself.

With an election in the offing this will also handily ensure the continuation of his other longstanding and highly successful programme - the vote-pledging scheme.

Methinks he can afford it, unless, like many political and business-folk of substantial means, he is penny-pinching as well as incessantly greedy and hungry for power.
