Thaksin de facto PM already

Those who call for a February 2 election no matter what should be aware of what is happening in the outside world.

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra delivered a speech at the 2013 Asian Business Leaders Forum Awards (ABLF) in Dubai last Saturday.

There was nothing new in Thaksin's speech. Rather, his presence at the awards ceremony was to declare his status as de facto prime minister of Thailand.

The ABLF is based in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. Cash-rich countries in the Middle East are looking for ways to invest their money where it is most profitable. Their main interests in Asean are energy and agriculture.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong attended the event in Dubai and presented awards alongside Thaksin - to confirm Thaksin's claim.
