Eureka! For once I completely agree with everything JC Wilcox says. A bunch of uppity Britons in our American colonies turn on the Mother Country, and in a fit of treasonous pique ditch their monarch, and all because of some trifling issue regarding taxation. Now their descendants, and more recent arrivals in the US, can only look on in envy as the younger generation of the House of Windsor carry all before them. What might have been, indeed.
Given the current fraught political atmosphere in Thailand, the injection of a little humour into the Letters page is surely to be welcomed. My only concern is whether our American cousins will see it that way.
