Suthep beneath contempt for hate speech

In an another example of the distasteful depths to which political rhetoric has plummeted in Thailand,

Suthep Thaugsuban, in a speech broadcast on Bluesky TV on February 21, warned PM Yingluck that her child "may be an orphan and he will be cursed". He then went on to suggest the child's paternity was uncertain.

I know that "hate speech" is not confined to the anti-government side, but Suthep repeatedly claims the moral high ground, that he wants to clean up politics and that his protests are conducted in accordance with the spirit of "ahimsa".

Whatever PM Yingluck's failings in office, there is no justification for Suthep aiming such hurtful and abusive comments at an innocent child. The man is beneath contempt.
