Speak out to bring positive change
I agree with Samsak Pola (Letters, January 27) that just because the lese majeste law is part of Thai culture doesn't mean it's right.
I believe one reason many people have ridiculed me for promoting vegetarianism is because eating meat is part of most countries' culture. But does that make it right? If everyone were afraid to ever speak out against what's culturally acceptable, then nothing would ever change, and America would still have slaves.
The bottom line is that we should never think that, just because something is culturally "right", it's therefore morally right.
