Six reasons why puppet leader must resign

It appears only a matter of time before Yingluck Shinawatra resigns. This will be a good thing for Thailand as she has made too many mistakes and is obviously no leader. In fact, she is simply a mere puppet of her fugitive brother.

History will probably record that she and her administration failed for six major reasons: First, instead of focusing on important issues such as improving education or fighting corruption or genuine national reconciliation, she and the Pheu Thai Party focused on the reckless, corruption-plagued, ill-thought-out rice-pledging programme. Even worse, it used up precious moral capital to attempt to exonerate her brother. Second, she never seemed to know the general details of what was going on within her government or party. All too often her answer was, "I don't know", or one of her ministers would whisper an answer into her ear. Third, she was disingenuous when asked certain questions, such as why she and her party submitted the so-called reconciliation bill in the small hours of the morning, or whether she has been in contact with her brother lately. Fourth, by declaring that she and her party would ignore the judgement of the Constitutional Court concerning the Thai senate, she made it clear her administration is lawless, which helped add numbers to the insurrection. Next, by encouraging her red-shirt goons to come to Bangkok to defend her government, she invited bloodshed. Finally, she did not publicly express regret for the loss of life and injuries of Ramkhamaeng students at the hands of her red-shirt supporters.

Let us all pray that the next prime minister of Thailand is the opposite of Yingluck. Let us hope the new leader is his or her own person and doesn't take orders from Dubai. Ideally, he or she will also have vision, humility, wisdom, maturity, knowledge, charisma and, above all, compassion for all sides in this conflict.
