Re: "Arrogance towards anti-protest letter-writers not going to help", Letters, May 19.
Eric Bahrt labels me as “mean-spirited” and “disrespectful” to anti-protest letter writers and groups me among protest supporters and members of the Democrats.
First, it is not in my nature to call anyone a “fool”, “ignorant”, “dirty” or “illiterate”, or any words to that effect. In my profession, I was trained not to use superfluous adjectives, overblown rhetoric or insult my opponent to win an argument.
Second, I belong to no camp and am free to call a spade a spade. My wide reading in politics, finance, economics and social justice has taught me not to be self-righteous. I willingly take on board opposition,
Third, my opinion of the local scene was sincere in stating that some foreign letter-writers (not all) would have trouble getting letters published in their own countries.
Eric Bahrt contended he did not fall into that category because many of his letters and articles have been published in American newspapers. I Googled and found none. Perhaps Google is not comprehensive enough.
