The insurgents who attacked the Marine base in Narathiwat province last week have claimed it was a reprisal for Tak Bai, when peaceful protesters were stacked in trucks, body on body, and many died. Deputy Premier Chalerm Yoobamrung has offered amnesty to those who confess they were misled concerning the reason for the attack. One man who took part in the Marine base attack had survived Tak Bai.
