PDRC cannot turn the other cheek to lethal violence

Re: "PDRC guard admitted that they are armed: please take note", Letters, March 23.

The PDRC demonstrations had been non-violent until the faction Eric Bahrt is obviously siding with started to use lethal weapons against demonstrators, their homes and family members. These evil persons even lobbed grenades into crowds of people, killing innocent children. There has been no apparent help from police in stopping these lethal attacks or finding the culprits. And the attacks continue. So what should the PDRC do - just take the bullets?

Mr Bahrt clearly has little understanding of the chronology or the scale of the attacks.

Since some letter-writers seemed confused about violence and who is behind it, perhaps The Nation could provide analysis on the ongoing violence surrounding the demonstrations and the political unrest.

Who exactly are the aggressors? And should the demonstrators protect themselves against lethal attacks or just accept whatever damage comes from what Mr Bahrt argues is a non-violent source?
