Only lesson is that rule of law has collapsed

Re: "English lessons from the protests", Letters, April 17.

Anti-government protesters are practising "extortion, intimidation and harassment", eh? Hmm ... sounds like a description of the red-shirt protests in 2010. It also describes the modus operandi of national and local government officials, sectors of the legal profession, business leaders, the police and the list could go on and on and on.

The world is "laughing at Thailand" because the entire rule of law has collapsed. The nation is currently chugging along solely on the authority of the corrupt and nobody has a clue what to do about it. One thing is for certain in this morass of uncertainty, the last to stop smiling in "the land of smiles" will be the corrupt and amoral.
