Numbers are undermining Israeli dignity

Re: "Gaza carnage - the 'Living cartoon' of the war in the Middle East", Opinion & Analysis, July 24.

Kudos to Pornpimol Kanchanalak for having the insight to write how it really is in Gaza and to The Nation for printing it.

After the recent attack by the Israeli army on a known UN shelter at a school, killing and injuring scores of people, including women and children, the Israelis, and their response to Hamas' missiles, come off as animals, at worst, and inept soldiers who can't shoot straight, at best. Hamas has killed 35 Israelis, 32 whom were soldiers. The Israelis? How many of the more than 600 dead were Hamas militants? With all its money, arms and Western backing, Israel needs a lesson in human dignity and, evidently, more time on the shooting range.
