International media giants never learn

Re: "Spotlight on foreign media coverage of Bangkok's crisis", Opinion, December 22.

I want to praise Kornchanok Raksaseri for daring to put two giants of international media - the New York Times and the BBC - under the spotlight for not presenting news from Thailand as accurately as they should.

However, I don't think such news outlets will change their attitude towards small and developing countries like Thailand.

These world-renowned media think their famous names alone guarantee the authenticity of news they report - even though fact points the other way.

As American musician Louis Armstrong once noted, "There are some people that, if they don't know, you can't tell them."
