The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won India's election by a landslide over the long-dominant Indian National Congress party (INC).
The victory is impressive considering the INC had been in power for all except 10 years since independence in 1947. The BJP never gave up, and finally won without boycotting the election or demanding the Gandhi family quit politics (the BJP jokes that the INC is the “mother-son” government.)
After the loss, the INS didn’t whine about being cheated; its campaign leader Rahul Gandhi said, “I wish the new government the best”, and “I am responsible for the party’s loss”. (Listen up Abhisit.)
The BJP victory should inspire the Democrats to keep on fighting according to the rules, trusting that people will eventually tire of corrupt government.
