I'm happy to be 'milked' of my cash drinking farang garfay
Amid the political tension, it was a relief to read the long sarcastic note of A Johnsen, if one does not take his utilitarian content seriously. Capitalism now rules the world.
Laissez-faire market competition encourages branding. The weak brand fails and remains insignificant while the efficient one becomes global and commands a healthy cake. Starbucks is operating in 62 countries with 19,000 stores - 11,000 in America, 1,000 in China and 170 in Thailand. Johnsen's call for good sense in buying Starbung instead could hardly dent Starbucks' sales. With traditional perception, I never thought McDonald's could catch on after its first outlet in rice-eating Thailand. Neither did I imagine tea-drinking China would go for coffee. I've learned one thing in life - not to rely on one's preconceived likes and dislikes. By the way, I'm a Starbucks' Thai customer, being "milked by foreign people" and love it.
