Don't expect any declaration of assets

Re: "Declare assets now or face disaster later", Letter, August 19.

Citing a poll showing that most people want members of the NCPO and its agencies to declare their assets, Vint Chavala warned, "There will be insurmountable stumbling blocks ahead if they fail to do so."

Immediately I pictured all those four-star generals cowering in terror as they read this. I could see them scrambling to break their piggy banks and start counting. Vint, the NCPO came to power against the people's will. It doesn't have to do what people want. If it respected the people's will, it wouldn't have executed the coup in the first place.

And I was surprised when Vint called Yingluck's administration "democratically elected officeholders". Sounds like he borrowed the phrase from ignorant foreign media - specifically, the BBC. We all know they took office by rigging the election, don't we?
