Re: "NSC fears civil strife if protesters take to the streets", Politics, April 7.

National Security Council chief Paradorn Pattanatabut warns of civil strife if protesters take to the streets at a time when there are a large number of red shirts in the city to put pressure on the legal institutions.

Red-shirt leader Jatuporn Prompan threatens to bring a massive crowd to Bangkok after Songkran for more of the same. His boast of bringing 500,000 to the city fell about 50 per cent short even according to Thida's estimate. Before being deposed, Thida Thavornseth stated that there were two legs to the UDD, the red shirts and "democracy-loving people". It sounds as though the democracy-loving people told the red shirts to hop it. Perhaps the "DLP" are beginning to see the light.
