DSI freezing assets was the last straw

Re: "We have right to freeze assets", News, December 23.

The summons and freezing of assets against 38 protest leaders by order of the DSI might be legal, but to all fair-minded individuals this is a straight case of bullying opponents and critics of the government. The DSI's move, just a few days before Suthep Thaugsuban's scheduled call for the "last push", sickened many previously silent citizens and spurred them onto the streets for an unprecedented protest. Some gave donations to Suthep, backing the campaign to bring down the government.

In future, we will recall two events that changed Thailand's destiny - the blanket-amnesty bill pushed by a crooked parliament and the freezing of assets by the DSI.
