Crime re-enactments offensive and macabre

What on earth is the point of the ghoulish re-enactment by the police of crimes committed in Thailand?

I find the photo on page 3A of Thursday's Nation of Wanchai Saengkhao re-enacting the crime he committed on Sunday when he raped and murdered a 13-year-old girl travelling on a Bangkok-bound overnight train from Surat Thani both highly offensive and macabre at the same time. Why should your newspaper publish such a photo apart from catering to the morbid curiosity of readers?
