Crackdown needed on property sector
We saw reports in various publications last month about Thais helping tourists and preventing scams, plus Deputy Prime Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul talking about crime in Phuket.
One of the most prolific crimes across the nation involves both Thais and expatriates who work in the estate-agency business. The lies and deceit they use to con people out of money on house and land deals is without doubt something that needs attention at every level within the government.
However, is the government actually serious about doing anything worthwhile to crack down on these sorts of problems, or just happy to fuel a property business that stinks to high heaven?
