City election set a new low standard

If the Election Commission clears Sukhumbhand Paribatra of "low blows" during the Bangkok gubernatorial campaign, it would set a new trend for Thai politics. Expect "ca-ca slinging" from both camps in future elections.

Expect the Democrats to scream "Don't elect arsonists", "If elected, they would eradicate our beloved institution, the monarchy", "Beware of a new state with Thaksin as president" and "Our country belongs to our Father, not Thaksin."

Pheu Thai is likely to hit back with "Don't elect a murderer", "Mark the Ripper", "Coward draft-dodger", "Remember Sor Por Kor 4-01", "We don't want coup supporters", "Where have all 396 police stations gone?" and "Looking at nude pictures in Parliament. What next? Masturbating?"

I can see it coming, and we'll have perfectly rotten politics. If I were in the EC, I'd give Sukhumbhand a yellow card just to deter future smear campaigners.
