China will squash us all flat

Wang Yusheng has written an opinion piece for the China Daily, a mouthpiece for Beijing, outlining China's plan for prosperity.

He mentions China's "good-neighbourly relations and the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence". Yeah, right. Like the military occupation of Tibet, or aiming hundreds of ballistic missiles at Taiwan, or laying claim to other countries' islands, some of which are 50 times closer to the other claimant than to China?

China is like the 300-pound bully who, instead of beating people up with his fists, simply leans on smaller people and overwhelms them with drawn-out persistence, until the other person falls down exhausted.

China won't give up its imperialist ventures until all of Southeast Asia is in its pocket. The trillion-baht high-speed train planned to link Bangkok with China is just one small step in that march. At least two generations of Thais will be paying dearly for that train - estimated to cost Bt5 trillion to Bt6 trillion over the next 50-plus years.
