Avoiding coup is a huge leap forward

Like many, I also thought that Suthep Thaugsuban had gone berserk and did not know when to call it quits. Then the news tells me that his persistence has achieved a result no sane mind could have dreamt of.

He has caused everybody to get sincerely involved in political reforms, be they the caretaker government, civil servants, the Army, business pressure groups, academics, medical professions and even red-shirt leaders

His previous call for a "people's assembly" was laughed at, especially by so-called experts, even though Suthep never defined what he meant. The name was a great ruse to provoke citizens to challenge the blatant corruption in policymaking being perpetuated by those in power. The want an end to the "winner takes all" concept.

Yes, reform is here for good and Thailand will never be a toy for anyone manipulate totally again. Thanks must go to Suthep, the Army, the Police and Yingluck for the restraint shown in the past month. You have all saved lives and also brought immense political progress to Thailand - there was no military coup this time.
