Army chief's common sense is commendable
Re: "Prayuth apologises to ASTV-Manager Daily", News, January 15.
Never have I heard of a Thai Army chief having to apologise to a newspaper for his subordinates' outrage. Historically, the press could suffer physical loss and face plenty of harassment for extreme insult.
Army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha deserves an accolade for good sense since, even without any retort, the press comparing General Prayuth to "a woman on her period" is downright insulting to men. That criticism and call for attention from the media's viewpoint reflects the level of mentality of that outlet and deserves no response. General Prayuth has set a good standard.
