And the road carnage continues
Yet again another ghastly vehicle crash, this time in Phuket.
This will continue until drivers learn about consequences. Driving in Thailand is a constant risk. People are just one bend away from death or a life-threatening accident. It is time to learn from what takes place all the time. How safe are trucks and buses? Are they meeting safety standards? Are drivers pushed too hard to meet deadlines?
The authorities are failing in many areas of road safety, and it is time they took a long look at ways to change the crazed way people drive. Buses travel too fast for the roads and conditions. On steep hills they must be forced into low gear with no passing. Companies that set impossible deadlines for their drivers must be fined.
Tragic deaths on the roads leave us all very hurt and sickened. It is time to stop the carnage.
Patong Hill is treacherous at all times, but it is treated like a racetrack by many.
